Finding Pasture
A few days ago I was thinking about the verse in John 10 that says “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
I was thinking about how easy it is to start thinking of all kinds of other things as the door to “find pasture.”
I had a friend who used to jokingly say things like, “Once I get that bookshelf I’ve been wanting, then I’ll finally be happy.” Or, “Once my kids graduate from high school, then I’ll finally be happy.” Her point was that it always seems like, once you get the things you’ve been wanting, you’ll be satisfied. But of course, after the bookshelf is bought and the kids have graduated, there’s always the next thing.
It helps to remind myself that God is the only door. The door to that open place where I can see the stars. And no matter what I do or what comes my way I’m forever walking through that door again and again to receive what I need. I have no pasture outside of Him. And there’s no situation I can find myself in where that door will not be open to me.
He Himself is my inheritance. My abundance.
Blessings to you this week as you walk through that door!
