Reflecting God's Glory
The other day I was going for a walk, thanking God for trees and clouds and for His presence, when an interesting thing happened. One after another, various people came to mind, many who are artists and writers, and lots of others whose occupations and personalities are too varied to list. I felt compelled to pray for each of them. An intense kind of prayer. I could see each person in my mind reaching toward a beautiful something that reflects some facet of God’s glory. And I could feel how easily any one of them could become discouraged—allowing their voice to be silenced—the voice God gave them to sing His praise.
Surely God is multifaceted beyond what we can imagine. Every personality, every gifting, must have its origin in Him. And each one of us—His creation—must be specially suited to reflect some characteristic of His when we are looking at Him. We’re all part of a vast audience. And we were created to marvel at the Beautiful One—each occupying a seat that offers a particular perspective. How wonderful when someone from clear across the vast audience is willing to share their perspective with me! To open a window to a different view. And as more and more windows open, and my view grows broader, surely I will see God more clearly and will marvel all the more.
We need each other. We need to see beyond our own narrow vision—because God is so great and His glory so bright. It’s too much for any one of us to take in.
Whoever you are, whatever your gifts or your limitations, I believe this is true: the rest of us can greatly benefit from your perspective as you gaze toward Christ. We need your voice. Keep singing! Please keep showing up.
