Movie Reviews
My kids say I give terrible movie reviews, and they’re absolutely right. I say things like, “Hey, there’s this movie I want y’all to see. I remember when I saw it, I loved it but I have to say the special effects are really bad and some of the acting’s bad too. Still, even though the story’s seriously far-fetched, there are some pretty great ideas in there, if you can get past everything else. Oh, and the colors are great.” Not exactly a glowing review, is it? Recently I suggested we watch an Alfred Hitchcock movie, and this was my pitch— “It’s a little slow-moving and kind of gloomy, it won’t leave you feeling peppy, and it takes place almost entirely in one room, which I don’t typically like, but I’m pretty sure it’ll hold your interest. And the colors are great.” One of my daughters said jokingly, “I can’t wait to watch this one.”
My opinion of movies is influenced a lot by colors, which means I don’t enjoy Westerns on the basis that they are mostly tan. They make me feel thirsty and that’s really all they do for me.
My brother once got sick from watching a movie because it was constantly showing people eating chocolate. It was just too much for him. Also, he may have had the stomach virus… I’m not sure. But I personally loved that movie. Great acting, nicely changing scenery, not tan, but instead rich, vibrant colors and loads of chocolate. You may have heard of it— its called “Chocolat”, (French for Chocolate). A fitting title.
Have you been watching more movies than usual during the pandemic? If you’re looking for something colorful that has only made one person (that I know of) sick at their stomach, you should try “Chocolat”.
Also, I watched Mulan the other night— the one with real people in it. I loved it! I have nothing negative to say about it. It didn’t make me thirsty or nauseous, and I felt relatively peppy when the credits rolled. Oh— and also, the colors were great.
